Put Out into the Deep

In this edition, some notes from Eve's quick trip to Washington DC and an introduction to a new page on our website.
The Call of Friendship
After Boston, Eve snuck down the East Coast to her hometown of Washington, DC, where she had a chance to meet up with a group of BCF supporters. They shared some of their own needs and questions. Three things stood out:
Friendship weaves single laypeople into community—but it also weaves parents and priests into community. The Church is not only like a body, where each member plays a necessary role, but like an ecology, where all the different animals and plants, the soil and the rain, work together to nourish life.
When we “showcase unnoticed vocations,” we’re not just serving the people living out those hidden paths: as friends, hospital volunteers, “chosen family,” teachers, artists, and more. We’re serving married people too, and parents, priests, and religious.
We’re making the ecology of the whole Church healthier.
How do I bring BCF to my diocese?
Check out our step-by-step guide to bringing BCF to you. Every time we do a Mission Week like Boston, we learn more about what makes this work possible and how to strengthen local communities. Check it out and consider what BCF might be able to do in your community!
Your Prayers and Ours
Please pray for safe travels and openness to God’s will for two friends of BCF’s mission as they finish a two-week pilgrimage!
And please continue to pray that the work we’re doing in Boston, DC, and around the country builds lasting relationships and bears fruit for years to come. Pray that we may serve God’s will, and God’s people, with wisdom and humility.
