Hopes and Plans

In 2025 ...

• Resources. We’ll be presenting new resources starting with the catechetical worksheets we are developing with your help.
• Mission Weeks. We’ll be announcing new Mission Weeks, where we bring multiple events to a diocese and show what it can look like when gay people are active in every aspect of Catholic life.
• Workshops and Talks. We’ll be sharing new versions of the workshops and discussions we’ve already debuted, on subjects like "Five Stages of Gay People’s Journeys to Integrity", "Hopes and Fears of Catholic Youth", "Fruitful Allyship", and "Helping Parish Affinity Groups Grow Into Sites of Spiritual Formation."
• New Content and Topics. We’ll be developing new workshops based on the needs we’re hearing as we build relationships in dioceses around the country: pastoral care for same-sex couples, strengthening college students’ faith and friendships, and a retreat we call “The Theology of the Body for the Rest of Us.”

This is exciting work—we’re doing it because it’s a new step forward, sharing what we wish we had known when we first became mentors to others. But it can be hard work. Many Catholic leaders aren’t used to thinking about how Catholic faith can illuminate gay experience, nor how LGBT+ people’s experience can help us better live our Faith. Polarization—gay or Catholic, gay vs. Catholic—can feel easier than seeking harmony. Easier to understand. Easier to explain. Easier to support.

So we want to say, Thank you! You believe that we can move beyond this polarization. You are helping us build a shared Catholic future.

You’ve made all this possible. You’ve made generous gifts to meet BCF’s material needs.  You’ve opened doors and connected us with Catholic leaders who know that gay people are called by God to flourish in the Catholic Church. And you’ve held us up in prayer.
