Put Out into the Deep
Dec 17 2024
Hello, and welcome to the Put Out into the Deep, the newsletter of Building Catholic Futures. This week we’re announcing an educational resource ready for beta-testing. This is one you’ll want to share with the educators and catechists in your life. And, we have the results of last week's quick Advent poll.

Advent Poll Results
Our poll last week turned up a beautiful range of favorite Advent hymns. Two people named “The King Shall Come When Morning Dawns”; three of you love “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” with one person calling it “the GOAT.” And one more replying, "Duh. The O Antiphons," the Gregorian chant on which the hymn text is based. Two people love “Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming.” One adds that the German original is also beautiful (“Es ist ein Ros entsprungen”), while the other specifies that there must be “a Baltimore accent on blooooming, please”!
Other favorites included “The Angel Gabriel from Heaven Came,” “Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus,” “Comfort, Comfort Ye My People,” “People, Look East,” “Soon and Very Soon,” “Trumpet in the Morning,” and “Wait for the Lord”.
Meanwhile about 14% of you feel ready for Christmas, another 57% are “almost” there, and (surprisingly!) only 29% replied “LOL.” Whatever your state of preparedness, know that we’re praying for you
Your Prayer Requests
And speaking of which… here are a few of the responses from our poll (more to come):
My cousin K. is on hospice right now, so please pray for her and her family.
Please also pray for my spouse S.’s conversion. Thank you for this beautiful mission, and you'll be in my prayers this season as well. <3
Please pray for the repose of the soul of Fr. Steven Adrian, the priest who baptized me as an infant in December of 1986. He passed away recently on December 1, 2024.
Please pray that E&G carry their baby to term
And please continue to pray for Building Catholic Futures, that we may serve God and the Church with joy.
