Put Out into the Deep
March 27 2025
In this edition, we’re sharing some of what we learned in Boston. And note the new time for our upcoming webinar, “Meet Fernando,” where we’ll talk more about Boston and beyond!
Eve with Fernando at the chancery
A Deep Desire
Eve had a chance to present Building Catholic Futures’ perspective and materials to many different audiences during her week in Boston. She spoke with priests, educators, parents whose children have come out, diocesan officials, and local LGBT/SSA+ Catholics. Here’s a taste of what we learned:
Eve and Fernando with Fr Michael Della Penna
BCF has said from the beginning that there are people of goodwill everywhere in the Church, at every level and in every role. In Boston we saw living proof: We can understand one another, learn from one another, and encourage one another in following Jesus.
We are so grateful to those who helped with these events, and especially to the people and institutions who hosted Eve! Special thanks to David Palmieri and the Without Exception Network for their event for educators; the Secretariat for Evangelization and Discipleship, who brought Eve to speak with parents; and Fr. Michael Della Penna, our host at St. Leonard’s in the North End.
Time Change for Webinar
Fernando Limbo, a youth minister and one of BCF’s Witnesses, was with Eve in Boston and got to see several of these events. He’ll share his journey of faith, his reasons for working with BCF, and what excited him most about Boston in our second “Meet the Witnesses” webinar, on
Saturday, April 5
at 3pm Pacific / 6pm Eastern time.
Note the time change!
We’ll be taking your questions, and you will need a link, so be sure to register:
Your Prayers and Ours
For all parents whose children identify as LGBT+, especially those whose children have just come out to them.
For the intercession of St. Cyril of Jerusalem, for healing of division in the Church.
For self-acceptance.
For freedom from fear.
And thank you so much for your prayers for our work in Boston. We were so encouraged by the warm welcome we received. Please continue to pray for our work in several other dioceses across the country.
