Put Out into the Deep
March 4 2025
Hello, and welcome to the Put Out into the Deep, the newsletter of Building Catholic Futures. Today, it's upcoming events: a reminder of the Witness Interview with Nate Tinner-Williams, and a string of events in Boston.
So if you are in the Boston area, please join us! Or if you have friends there who would benefit from attending a live BCF event or two, please forward this email to them and extend an invitation.
To the Heart of the Church: Monday March 17
On March 17 (yes, St. Patrick’s Day), the Without Exception Network, a network that supports ministry in Catholic high schools, will host BCF for a live event for Catholic educators.
On Monday, March 17 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM Eve will join David Palmieri, the founder of Without Exception, for a presentation and conversation on
“Why Catholic Schools Keep Fighting Over LGBT Questions.”
Specifically designed for Catholic high school personnel, this event will begin by exploring the conflicts among stakeholders in Catholic education. Eve will then identify four starting points, or “lenses” we bring to these conversations, each of which have characteristic insights and weaknesses. Conflict happens when people seek to impose one lens and reject another; conflict can be transformed when we acknowledge some truth in another person's lens. Eve will present work based on interviews with Catholic school teachers, administrators, alumni, and parents—all people of goodwill, but with very different starting points. We will end with plenty of time for open questions and conversation with David and Eve.

Eve will be in Boston that week for other events as well, presentations and discussions that draw on BCF’s experience and accumulated understanding of LGBT/SSA+ people’s spiritual journeys in order to get beyond the polarized and predictable arguments we’re used to.
We will highlight other public events next week. Meanwhile, click here to let us know in advance that you're interested, and we will share information about the events and plans for Eve's week in Boston.
